GLHU “Smolevichy Leshoz” was formed from the former estate forests in 1938. In January 1940 the state forests of the total area of 38 045 ha were affiliated to Smolevichy forestry. At that time it consisted of 4 forest districts– Petrovichy, Potichevo , Smolevichy and Yurievo. The first director was Aleksey Maksimovich Bolsun.

During the Great Patriotic War the German army burnt and cut out considerable areas of the forests. The operation of the forestry was suspended, but in July 1944 was resumed. Smolevichy, Petrovichy , Klennick and Yurievo forest districts were affiliated then.

On July, 18 1944 Khatskevich Nikita Grigorievich was appointed to a position of the Director of the forestry, Sableva Tatsiana Iosifovna was appointed Chief Accountant , Kondeiko Nikolay   Efimovich was appointed Chief Forester. At the beginning of the reconstruction period the vacancies at the forestry were filled by the best forest wardens or just skillful people who didn’t have forestry education.

The specialists started coming to the forestry only in 1946. Shabanova Anastasia Alexandrovna –a forestry engineer – came to the forestry in January 1946 after graduating from Voronezh Forestry Institute. At the same time one more specialist with 17 years of experience began to work in the forestry. His name was Alekseev Luka Luckich. He graduated from Belarusian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Forestry Faculty.

September 8, 1954 Smolevichy Forestry was  liquidated. Potichevo and Yurievo Forest Districts were handed over to Borisov Forstry, Ptrovichy and Smolevichy – to Minsk Forestry. According to Order № 130(of 11.06.1962) the forestry was formed again. It happened on July1, 1962. It consisted of 4 forest districts – Zhodino, Ptrovichy, Potichevo and Smolevichy. The managers were the same. Director – Makarenya Nikolay Nikolaevich,  Chief Forester – Korobov Mikhail Nikolaevich, Chief Accountant – Sableva Tatsiana Iosifovna. Foresters were appointed- Borodin Vladimir Iosifovich to Zhodino Forest Disctrict, Gudimovich Roman Konstantinovich – to Petrovichy Forest District, Kostiukovich Nikolay Vasilievich – to Potichevo Forestry Disctrict, Shagovick Pavel Iosifovich – to Smolvichy Forest District. Drachkovo Forest District was formed in 1968, Usyazh Forest District – in 1970. In 1968 Drachkovo Forest District was renamed Volma Forest District. Apatskiy Nikolay Trofimovich was appointed Chief Forester. Petrovichy Forest District was renamed Drachkovo. According to Order №175 of 02.01.1999  Potichevo Forest District was renamed Klennick (because of the name of the village whre it was located)

The first forest management in separate forest districts was carried out in 1923. After that all forestry activities began to be based on the forest management data. Further forest management was conducted in 1937,1948, 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988 and 1998.

When the forestry was formed in 1962, the office was accommodated in a dwelling house in Meliorativnaya Str. (now it is called 60-let-Oktyabrya Str.) The forest districts offices, which were built in different years, were also accountable to the forestry.

In 1962 the forestry had only 1 motorcycle with sidecar ( it was at the director’s disposal), 1 vehicle-borne truck GAZ-51 and 2 horses in each forest district. Horses skidded logs. Horses were one of  the main means of transport at that time. The wood-working shop produced shingles for roofing, birch handles for spades, lags for barrels, lath.

The turned goods workshop was built in 1965, new equipment was purchased. The workshop started manufacturing turned handles for spades , later- for rake. At the end of 1972 sawing workshop was put into operation. The saw frame R-65 was installed in it. The frame started sawing timber into edging board. The woodwork shop manufactured edged timber for BELAZ in Zhodino. A permanent nursery garden was built in Drachkovo Forest District in 1972.

In December 1975 the construction of an industrial log depot with logway was completed. The drying tunnel PAP-32 started working in 1977.

Gradually, the construction works were carried out at the forestry, the enterprise purchased tractors and equipment for its workhouses. By the end of 1979 it already had 9 tractors, 1 fire-engine, 1 automobile, 1 purpose-built car, 40 petrol-powered saws and 13 monoblock pumps were used at the forestry.

Consumer goods and capitalized products such as fencing wood, turned handles, reclamation picket, pallet containers, semi manufactured furniture, lining timber, reinforcing boxes, saw timber, squared work materials, work materials for trays, blockhouses, vegetable panels were produced, Christmas fir-trees were sold.

In the 1980s a sauna with shower cubicles and workers’ locker rooms were attached to the turned goods workhouse. Besides, a study for the shop foreman was equipped. From 1978 till 2002 the forestry purchased 20 woodworking machines and 3 sawmills.

In March 2003 small merchantable wood processing line was put into operation. This line was purchased in Minsk Factory of Automatic Lines. In 2004 the workhouse of logs cylindering was fully equipped.

A lot of things were done in 2005. An office and garages of Smolevichy Forest District and a house in Smolechy were built, there was a major overhaul in the forestry office, workers’ locker room in the workshop and mechanical-repair department , a former office of Smolevichy Forest District was transformed into a dwelling house, a new job safety office was equipped. A boiler room was set in operation, the garages were made heated. New machinery and technical equipment was purchased.

During the last 2 years the forestry purchased 4 load-haul-dump machines MPT -461, 3 hydraulic manipulators M-75, fire-engine GAZ-3308, vehicle-borne trailer, 2 cars ‘Niva’, 30 petrol-powered saws, 15 petrol-powered mowing machines. The Forester’s House was set in operation, there was a major overhaul in the office of Drachkovo Forest  District, 2 greenhouses with irrigation system were purchased and installed, a water reservoir was dug out and landscaped. The working places in Smolevichy Forestry and its districts were provided with personal computers. The major repairs of The Forester’s House and the construction of a sauna were completed in March 2008.

In June 2008 according to Order of Ministry of Forestry of Belarus for the purpose of performing  the decree of the President of 13.11.2006 № 09/111 -256,09//111 -259, 09/111-2560 about taking the necessary measures in effective usage of industrially, socially and culturally important objects, performing the decrees of The Council of Ministers of 26.12.2006 № 11/307-380, of 02.02.2008 №11/01/14, according to the List of unused properties, which are owned by The Republic of Belarus, are subjected to economic involvement and in accordance with the State Property Committee, property of UE “Bellesexport” was transferred to the possession to Smolevichy Forestry without compensation. Thereby the following objects were added to the forestry economy – production shop, a shed for timber, an accretion to the storehouse, a gas station, a van-house, a van-storehouse, a storehouse, a garage, a turning machine 16D25, a universal milling machine, a truck MAZ-53371, a truck MAZ - 630308-226,  an automobile Volga GAZ- 311050-120, a hydraulic manipulator OMTL – 70-04 and 3 trailers.
